SACSA Athletics

The South Australian Christian Schools Association (SACSA) Athletics Carnival is always a much-anticipated event in the sporting calendar.

During Week 9, 19 Christian schools from across South Australia converged on the SA Athletics Stadium (previously known as SANTOS Stadium) to take part in the 2021 Championships. With the cancellation of the 2020 event, this was the first large scale interschool competition for quite some time. Students had been selected for events based on their results from High School Sports Day.

Under the circumstances, we were not able to set our sights on a high team placing, with Year 7 Camp and other commitments meaning that our initial squad was reduced to 40% of our usual team. We were still able to represent the school in a very impressive fashion and students continued to demonstrate their abilities, recording outstanding individual results.

Event Winners

While a respectable number of our students finished within a top 4 position, we would like to give special recognition to the following students who won their respective events:

Jonathan A – U15 boys 100m, U15 boys 200m, U15 boys long jump

Sienna W – Open girls 100m, Open girls 200m

Torran C – U15 boys 800m

Lachlan O – U13 boys shot put

Once again, we would like to congratulate everyone for their commitment and efforts during this event. We look forward to competing in the SSSA Interschool Athletics in the final week of Term 1.
