Senior School Curriculum
At Cedar College, we recognise that the Senior School curriculum should not be solely focused on the ATAR, but should provide a pathway towards a career — whether that be through tertiary education or another suitable option.
The Senior School, therefore, offers a careers programme to assist students in identifying their future pathways. A broad-based curriculum provides opportunities for young adults to pursue their aspirations and long-term goals while developing their God-given potential.
At the start of Senior School, the Exploring Identities and Futures program helps students identify their learning strengths, consider their future subject choices, and explore potential career pathways. A range of subjects is offered in the Senior School, including the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Physical Education, and Christian Living, as well as specialist subjects such as Music, Visual Arts, Food & Hospitality, Information Technology, Drama, and Design & Technology.
In Senior School, further options such as Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Modern History, Specialist Mathematics, and Legal Studies are available for students to specialise further.
Workplace Learning
*“Workplace Learning” is referred to as “Work Experience”
At Cedar College, students undertake Work Experience within the following curriculum areas:
Exploring Identities and Futures (EIF)
Participation in Work Experience is a mandatory requirement for all Year 10 students. Students are expected to complete one week of work experience during the final week of Term 2. By Term 1, students should have finalised their placement and submitted their completed Workplace Learning Agreement Form to Cedar College’s Pathways Coordinator.
Workplace Practices
The Year 11 and 12 Workplace Practices course provides students with insight into the nature and structure of the workplace. To fulfil the 50–60 hours of practical requirements, students must undertake one of the following:
- Work experience
- A VET course
- Casual employment
Vocational Education and Training (VET)
Mandatory work experience is associated with many VET courses. Placements usually occur during school holidays, and workplace learning preparation must be completed prior to attending work experience.

Christian Living
Students in the Senior School are regularly challenged to consider the spiritual aspects of their lives, through both the Christian curriculum offered and the continual overlap of God’s creation and design which is evident throughout all curriculum areas.
Subjects such as Christian Living and Vetamorphus (refer to the Senior School Curriculum Book) are designed to help students explore and deepen their understanding of God and Jesus Christ, and how this impacts their lives and the world around them.
The Senior School seeks to fulfil the vision of Cedar College by providing a high-quality, caring educational environment for students from Reception through to Graduation.
