On Friday October 19, the High School headed to Water World for the annual Swimming Carnival competition between the four Cedar House teams.

The four Houses (Gould, Laver, Jackson and Bradman), came with their game faces on, ready to take out the day and see who would be the recipients of the Swimming Carnival shield.

The Competition begins

After last year’s win, the pressure was on Gould to go back-to-back.

While rain threatened to dampen the atmosphere, we had nice warm weather and only one short downpour. The introduction of a water related quiz enabled those not swimming to still get involved and earn precious points for their Houses, which had a big effect on the final points. In the end it was a combination of having the most events filled by swimmers and the most quizzes returned that got Laver over the line, beating Gould by a healthy 59 points. This is a complete turnaround from their last place in 2017 – congratulations Laver!

Final standings: 1st Laver: 547, 2nd Gould: 488, 3rd Bradman: 462, 4th Jackson: 379
