Welcome to a New School Year

There’s always a lot of excitement about the new school year. Uniforms are new, classrooms are new, stationery and lunch boxes are new! We have new teachers, new subjects, new responsibilities, and even new buildings! There’s so much enthusiasm and potential in all of this newness, as we make a fresh start to the year.

New opportunities

A new year also gives us, as a school, the opportunity to try some new ideas. Our Primary School Meet the Teacher night was one such opportunity. We hoped the evening would be a time of community and connection as we welcomed families to Cedar College. The new format, this week, enabled us to do just that. It was lovely to see families enjoying time together around the sausage sizzle and coffee van, meeting other families, and visiting their child’s class teacher and specialist teachers in their learning areas.

New facilities

The new Science, Art and CLIC facility was a highlight of the evening for many. The front page of our first newsletter of 2019 featured a photo of the ground being excavated in preparation for the new building works. Fast forward 12 months and we have now moved into the new facility, with its growing garden, Nature Play areas, and green lawns, all at the centre of the Primary School. We’re excited to see our students use this new facility as they investigate Science, explore the Arts, and grow more confident in their learning in the new CLIC areas.

New facilities

In the High School, families of our Year 7-10 students have the opportunity to meet their teachers this coming Monday night. A sausage sizzle wil be provided for our Year 7 families, as we welcome them to High School. It’s wonderful to see that the sense of community will continue though the High School years at Cedar College.

There are many opportunities for families to be involved at Cedar, with chapels, assemblies, sports days and many other events held throughout the year. So as we enter this new year together as a community, let’s enjoy the journey and continue to discover Jesus,
display love and develop self.

House Team Shirts

If your student is new to the school or has outgrown their current House team coloured shirt you will need to order a new shirt through the QKR! App in time for the upcoming High School and Upper Primary Sports Days. High School students require a coloured polo shirt and Upper Primary students wear a coloured T-shirt. Orders should be placed by Friday 21st February, in order to arrive in time.

School Lunches, Uniform Items on Qkr!

All lunch orders at Cedar College are made online, using the Qkr! app from your smartphone, or from any computer via the link on our website. If you used Qkr! last year, you would have received a notification to update your child’s details for the new school year. The Uniform Shop now has its own menu on the Qkr! app (just below the Canteen menu) where you can order and pay for a range of items such as hats, socks, tights and hair accessories. When you order, you will first need to select a delivery and notification method. Please note that the Uniform Shop can usually only fulfil these orders on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Contact Details changed?

It is important to ensure that the school has up-to-date contact details for all parents, caregivers and emergency contacts. If your address, phone number or email address has changed since last year, please complete a Change of Details form as soon as possible, available from the Front Office.
