After more than a year in the making, and many more in the planning, the brand new Cedar College Creative Arts Centre is now open for classes. The three classrooms on the ground floor are now being used for classes and homerooms, along with the seven Instrumental Lesson rooms, student toilets and staff office.

The large Music Performance room, on the first floor, has been fitted with a band stage with a digital sound system for live perfomance and studio recording, and is surrounded by three separate recording studios and two audio editing rooms. The “Silent Stage” and “Jam Rooms” enable multiple bands to rehearse simultaneously with professional quality instruments and equipment, while other students learn theory or complete project-based learning tasks. Another upstairs classroom will eventually be fitted out to become an editing suite, with the large Drama Performance Room, changerooms, toilets and staff office rounding out the first floor.

With stage one of the building now complete, the provisions are already in place for an additional six classrooms to be built as part of the Stage 2 development. Cedar College is grateful to the Commonwealth Government for the funding assistance provided toward the cost of amazing facility, which will be officially opened later this Term.
