The High School Sports Day was held on Friday March 9 on Vickers Vimy Reserve.

The day began with the traditional tug-of-war, and a new format Whole House 800m event. This allowed students from every House to participate, with bonus points for the number of students involved, as well as for all students who make a specified cut-off time. This was also the longest race of the day and was scheduled early, before the heat set in. Our new flags were highly visible signposts to allow everyone to see the event locations and other important shade gazebos, including the “Hydration Station.”

Lead by their House Captains, the students looked brilliant in their House-coloured apparel and they participated with enthusiasm throughout the day, even as the temperature climbed. After some very close finishes in recent years, Laver emerged victorious to take the honours for 2018.

Thanks especially to all of our dedicated grounds staff who prepared the track well in advance and to our Sports Administrator, Mr Fernihough, for his many hours of preparation behind the scenes. Sports Day continues to be a great event which fosters school spirit and a sense of belonging, for both students and staff.
