On Wednesday 17th of August, the Year 10s and teachers hopped onto a bus on the way to a long three days of bushwalking at Mambray Creek.

With the idea that we were “survivors”, we hiked uphill and through creeks with our homes on our backs, to reach our campsite. After a couple of hours of walking we finally reached our destination. When we arrived, we got onto setting up our tents straight away, and started cooking our dinners on our trangias (little portable stoves which we carried). Later that night, we were able to reflect on what we had done during the day and just enjoy the bright full moon and the serenity of our surroundings.

The second day of camp was definitely more adventurous and consisted of getting up early to cook breakfast and start our long hike uphill. A couple of hours of walking later, we reached the top of the hill, where we got to admire an amazing and magnificent view of the hills, mountains and the sea in the distance. I am certain that this was the highlight of camp to many students. When we finally made it to Alligator Gorge, we were able to walk through the Narrows one by one to take in the amazing scenery God had created.

On the final day of camp, we packed our tents up and were ready to hike the final 7km back to the start. I am sure lots would agree that this camp was tiring and hard but was definitely one we would not have wanted to miss out on! Personally, I have enjoyed this camp as I have been able to appreciate the beautiful nature and environment that God has created for us, it has been an amazing adventure!
