During the school holidays, 19 Arts students spent three full immersive days in Sydney.

With barely a minute to spare, students participated in a range of either music, visual art or drama tours, workshops and experiences. Some highlights were the Visual Arts students visiting the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Music students learning from the best at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Drama students participating in a characterisation workshop at the National Institute of Drama Arts. We saw a live theatre show on the first night and “Fiddler on The Roof” the second night. Below are some comments from a few of the students who went on the Arts Trip:

“I have learnt how to improve my playing on the ukulele and learned more about improvisation. I also took away some options of places to go after school if I want to continue in music.”Emmanuel

“The tour of the Sydney Theatre was really cool and informative, and seeing NIDA was inspirational.  I liked the workshops and tours because they were immersive and social. It has also helped me with a career choice, as it seems way more achievable to work in the industry and study to be a professional. I’ve learnt to never stop learning and always try and improve yourself, as well as never give up as it’s a tough industry but it’s rewarding.” – Sarah

“There were so many activities on the trip which are relevant to what I am doing in Art this year. I was exposed to so many different ideas which have influenced me this term in deciding research topics for my visual study, and lots of different art forms which I had never seen before.” – Mykaela

“I have gained a larger appreciation for music technology thanks to the JMC Academy and the Institute of Music. I learnt new techniques and ways to play from the Conservatorium and saw many artists’ work and gained new ideas from the Art Gallery of NSW” – Jessica

Can I encourage you, if you are in Years 8, 9 or 10 to come on the trip in 2018!
