Cedar College is currently looking at how childhood development can be enhanced in the schoolyard.

Having looked at a broad range of literature and observing other case studies at local schools across Adelaide, we have decided to focus on outdoor play with natural elements. Natural elements have been shown to increase imagination, creativity, language development, decision-making, problem solving and enhance literacy and numeracy skills.

Over the course of the year we will be working on the Junior Primary Nature Play Space Pilot Project, in collaboration with children, educators, parents and Nature Play SA. There will be regular updates and opportunities to contribute to this pilot project.

We’re really looking forward to seeing our students connecting with their environment and continuing to learn through their play times. Stay tuned for more exciting Nature Play news during 2016.
